Cornhole Rules


Set-Up:

The Cornhole / Corn Toss playing field should be a level rectangular area 10 ft wide and a minimum of 45 ft long. You need two corn hole platforms, a designated pitchers boxes and foul lines at each end of the playing field.. You will also need 8 corn bags.

The Cornhole platforms should be placed 30ft apart from hole to hole.

Pitcher's Box - The pitcher's box is the rectangle 4 ft by 3 ft at each end of the playing field, parallel and on both sides of Cornhole platforms. The player must remain in the pitcher box while tossing corn bag.

Foul Lines – There are two sets of foul lines:

Adult Open Play- imagine a line 30ft. From the start of the hole on the opposite cornhole platform.

Junior Play-imagine a line 12ft. From the start of the hole on the opposite cornhole platform.

The foul line will run parallel to the front of the cornhole platforms.

Multiple Courts – Cornhole playing fields adjacent to each other will need to be separated a minimum of 10 feet apart. A distance (at least 12 feet) is preferable.

Playing the Game:

Now that you have your playing field set-up you are ready to begin play.

Singles or Doubles-Cornhole/Corn Toss can be played as doubles or singles games.

Singles-in singles play a player competes against another player. Both players will pitch from the same cornhole platform.

Doubles-in doubles 2 players are partners against another team of 2, one player from each team pitches from each platform at opposite ends of the playing field.

All other rules are basically the same for doubles or singles play.

Innings:

All cornhole match's are broken down into innings of play. During each inning there is a top and a bottom round of play.

Doubles-the top of an inning is finished when both players have pitched all 4 corn bags from the first cornhole platform:the bottom of the inning is finished when the other both players have pitched 4 corn bags from the opposite cornhole platform.

Singles- the top of an inning is finished when the first player has pitched all 4 corn bags; the bottom of the inning is finished when the other player has pitched all 4 corn bags.

An inning is over after all players have tossed their cornbags.

Point Value of Corn Bags Toss:

In-The-Hole - is a corn bag which is thrown in the hole in the cornhole platform or otherwise knocked in by another player or otherwise falls in. A corn bag in the hole has a value of 3 points.

In-The-Count - A corn bag that lands with any portion of the corn bag resting on the cornhole platform is in-the-count .A corn bag in-the-count has a value of 1 point. To be in-the-count it cannot be touching the ground or any other portions of the playing field before coming to rest on the platform. If the bag touches the ground or lands on the ground touching the platform, it does not count and must be removed from play. This is considered a foul.

Out-Of-The-Count - A corn bag that come to rest anywhere except in-the-hole or in-the-count is consider Out-Of-The-Count and has no point value.

(Optional Rules):

1.If a single player gets all four bags in the hole, it is an automatic 21 points and the player wins .

2.Swish Rule- corn bag goes into the hole without touching anything player gets 5 points...

Pitching Corn Bag during Play:

Doubles- players alternate pitching corn bags, throwing all 4 corn bags, the remaining players continue to alternate the same way until all 4 corn bags are pitched and the inning finished.

Singles – players pitch in the same manners except from the same platform, until the inning is finished after the last 4 corn bags have been pitched.

Players can pitch either from the right or left pitchers box, but maintain the same pitcher box for the complete inning.

Players have 20 second to pitch corn bags, the time begins when stepping into pitchers box.

Pitching Rotation

The player that scored last in the inning previous will pitch first, if no player scored the player or team that went last in previous inning will pitch first.

Length of the game:

The corn hole game will be played until the first team or player reaches or exceeds 21 points.

Optional rule: known as a "cwa-cwa."which states if you go over 21 you go back to the amount you started with at the beginning of the last round.

Cancellation scoring:

In cancellation scoring, corn bags in-the-hole and corn bags in-the-count pitched by opposite players during an inning (singles play) or half of an inning (doubles play) cancel each other out. Only corn bags that are not canceled out count for points.

Corn Bags In-the-Hole can cancel only the other players In-The-Hole points.
Corn Bags In-the-Count can cancel only the other players In-the-Count points.
